Abstract: Preparing preservice teachers to teach secondary math in alignment with the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics can be a challenge given the mostly lecture format in which they learned math Providing preservice teachers a discovery lab experience through Dynamic Mathematical Software (GeoGebra) allowed the future teachers the opportunity to see the value in learning mathematics though an interactive software program The future teachers were equipped with the knowledge and tools to create valuable learning experiences They were able to incorporate that knowledge into lesson plans that supported the Common Core Mathematical Standards of Practice
