Abstract: Maker Challenge Labs, a way to Build Content Connections and Community aims to frame the discussion of how to bring effective making activities into the classroom as well as connect them to the larger communities in which they exist The Maker challenge labs framework encourages students to use modern tools and technology, traditional arts and design techniques, human and technological resources as well as each other’s personal knowledge to develop solutions to real-world problems while aligning to standards We look at how this challenge framework has been used to incorporate community support and strategies to cultivate student motivation and community investment and how it could be adapted and contextualized in different environments
