Abstract: Information literacy is an essential proficiency to succeed in academic studies, whilst many first year students find it hard to develop academic information literacy for their studies The study reports findings from an academic college first year students' evaluation of their information skills according to Shapiro & Hughes (1996) and Ng (2012) information literacy models.
