Abstract: In spring 2016, fourteen ESL refugee middle schoolers participated in the “Hear a Story, Tell a Story, Teach a Story” project, a digital storytelling unit designed as an extended-hours language & literacy intervention The initiative developed from a partnership between a refugee services organization & the Department of Education at a small liberal arts college in the Southeastern United States This presentation describes the impetus for introducing refugee learners to digital tools, offers an overview of the storytelling unit, and analyzes artifacts of the students’ learning, including example films
