eLearnReady 2.0: Faculty Readiness Assessment for Online Teaching

Abstract: In April 2017, the researchers of this project successfully launched a free student tool, eLearnReady This system analyzes students’ responses and identifies their strengths and weakness for online learning Survey results are provided to students along with study tips and videos that demonstrate methods for being a successful online learner. More than 3,000 students from multiple colleges/universities have utilized this system since the initial release This project will conduct extensive research yielding a similar assessment system for faculty focused on comprehensive variables of faculty readiness for online teaching. This faculty instrument will be verified for content validity to ensure targeted metrics hold predictive value, and also for internal consistency through statistical analyses In doing so, this tool will strengthen the overall higher education online arena by better equipping and preparing faculty to teach through this challenging modality of learning
