Cracks in Algebra Foundations: Designing Games to Fill Them
Poster/Demo
ID: 50939
Abstract: This paper includes a review of well-documented learning problems in early algebra and a theoretical framework for using situated learning and the affordances of technology to design, develop and produce new digital games. Theory is then applied to the practice used by an interdisciplinary research team to design games to help students learn foundational mathematics concepts that support later advanced classes for algebra and beyond.
