Abstract: Almost twenty years ago, the Instructional Technology Program faculty in the College of Education at the University of xxx began exploring strategies to engage graduate students in authentic learning tasks through partnerships with museums and other non-profit humanities organizations in a city in the southwest. This led to opportunities for students, as part of their coursework, to design and develop large-scale web projects to support the educational outreach of these organizations. Based on data collection from stakeholders in early projects, we present lessons learned in bridging the gap between museums and academic institutions that collaborate with them.
