Abstract: This paper presents preliminary findings of integrating professional development for English as an Additional Language (EAL) instructors through Participatory Action Research (PAR) in a mobile vocabulary strategy initiative. PAR is a research method that conducts a research study with participants living in and providing insight into the actions being studied (Bergold & Thomas, 2012). Over the course of two terms, four EAL instructors agreed to participate in the PAR by analyzing their experiences and reflecting on their use of mobile vocabulary strategies to support adults in their EAL classes. This brief paper will share initial reflections and experiences of EAL instructors’ integration of mobile vocabulary strategies.
