Abstract: The Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework (Mishra & Koehler, 2006) has prompted many teacher education programs to re-evaluate how they are preparing pre-service teachers to integrate technology into K-12 spaces to enhance the teaching and learning process. Despite efforts on many levels to ensure successful TPACK acquisition either during pre-service or in-service development and enactment in the K-12 classroom, some groups of K-12 students continue to have lower levels of access and infrequent exposure to meaningful learning opportunities that are facilitated by technology. This roundtable will present the historical and present nature of the so-called “digital divide”, explore what is known about the current educational experiences of marginalized groups especially as these experiences relate to technology, and examine the impact of these on outcomes.
