Abstract: This presentation describes a community-based undergraduate research project with fifth-graders on how creating digital book-talks and converting them into augmented reality presentations engages reluctant readers. A digital booktalk, refers to a short video that introduces prospective readers to the highlights of the book. Booktalks have proven to be particularly effective with reluctant readers (Gunter & Kenny, 2008; Gunter, 2012). In this project, undergraduate students worked with fifth grade students to create booktalks, convert them to augmented reality presentations using the app Aurasma and then shared those presentations in the school library with their peers.
