Infusing Practicum Experiences with Technology Integration through an Elective Course: A Pilot Study

Abstract: It is common practice in Schools of Education to incorporate a practicum experience that has student teachers instructing in a K-12 classroom. What is less common is to integrate a practicum experience with an elective course. Educational elective courses are typically conducted in a classroom at an educational institution. This project describes an attempt to infuse a practicum experience with traditional classroom instruction in an elective educational technology course. Overall the results of this pilot study suggest that this is a useful approach and one that might benefit both the students in the field as well as the prospective teachers.
