Abstract: Cultural competence is a concept that has been left out of mathematics education. Most of the teaching leans towards the dominant culture. There are students in the classroom from various backgrounds and the curriculum is not done to accommodate all of the cultures that are represented in the classroom. This presentation will be based on research and what can be done to increase cultural competence (games, discussions, etc.) in the area of mathematics.
