Integrating Designed Learning Environments in Science Methods Courses for Future Elementary Educators

Abstract: NGSS(2013) science education reform demands that science teacher educators design science methods courses that provide a meaningful experiences. In this session an informal science education model will be shared with the audience, which combines all three out of school (OST) time environments suitable for elementary science methods courses. The model incorporates virtual museums and educational apps as a key component in a course redesign to integrate content specific educational technology.
