Abstract: In a prior study comparing online and face-to-face programs, researchers found differences in programmatic structures and learning outcomes as measured by edTPA. From results these scholars conjectured teacher candidates were not the same across programs. To examine this hypothesis, we designed a quantitative study using edTPA to compare candidate-learning outcomes by content area (e.g. English, mathematics, science and social studies), lateral entry or traditional teacher licensure, Teach for America (TFA) classification, and preparation with or without formative supports.
