Technology and SACSCOC Standards: Building an Evidence Based Model for Higher Education Strategic Planning
Abstract: This paper describes a research study on the impact of the use of technology in the form of an electronic dashboard and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Standards standards as components of a higher education institution’s strategic planning process. The dashboard and SACSCOC standards were used to foster institution-wide collaboration and support. An electronic dashboard and SACSCOC standards were both used to promote transparency and accountability. Focus groups were used to conduct a preliminary assessment of leadership’s reaction to the proposed model. The study revealed that integrating technology in the form of an electronic dashboard and SACSCOC standards promote accountability, transparency and broader participation across functional areas.
