Abstract: Using social network sites is considered a new application for integrating technology in the classroom. This paper uses Facebook as an example to discuses the effectiveness of social network sites (SNSs) on students’ learning. This paper also examines the advantages and disadvantages of SNSs on student learning. Moreover, this paper focuses on some significant differences between two different SNSs site: Facebook and Edmodo. Although most of Facebook’s users are students, it was not specifically designed for educational purposes (Lenhart & Madden, 2007). On the other hand, Edmond is an educational SNS and became popular worldwide because it was designed for educational purposes. Saudi Arabia is the site we use to examine which SNS is most appropriate for schools.
