Abstract: This paper explores and evaluates 1:1 computing models in K-12 learning environments through the lens of educational philosopher John Dewey. Using some of John Dewey's most salient beliefs on education, the paper provides a framework that analyzes and evaluates this instructional model. The paper also serves as a guideline to provide suggestions to any educators who may be interested in or are currently employing ubiquitous computing in their schools. Recommendations for 1:1 computing models are offered around the central principles of access, support, and use.
