Abstract: Students are under extreme pressure to pass standardized tests in K-12 public school districts. Each state has its own set of standardized tests due to the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) federal law. Educators are continually looking for innovative ways to promote an interest in subjects like math. Kids of all ages play video/computer games. This paper documents pertinent research on the theory that interactive games will improve student scores on standardized tests. The theory states students are learning without fully realizing they are learning math by using interactive media. There are numerous games which apply math; the next step is to determine if those games will actually improve test scores.
