Abstract: The purpose of this study is to examine the affordances and constraints of how technology can be used by mathematics teacher educators for enhancing teaching approaches in methods courses and enhancing preservice mathematics teachers’ learning of content, pedagogy, and technology. Two vignettes are used to illustrate preservice teachers’ work on a data analysis task using TinkerPlots and their reasoning about students’ work as depicted in an instructor-created animated movie.
