Abstract: Six teacher educators created diversity-focused writing assignments as part of a programmatic approach to improving pre-service teachers’ cultural competence and writing. A multi-course blog was developed so students could read, reflect, and comment on one another’s writing within and across their teacher preparation courses. By completing the assignments in the blog, students were able to connect and reflect through writing to explore uncomfortable diversity issues, like race, privilege, and prejudice. Faculty reflections on the process and outcomes of the project are presented.
