Abstract: This design research experiment meets the dual objectives of (1) crafting an innovative solution to solve the instructional problem of how to effectively develop pre-service teachers’ personal code of ethics while at the same time (2) assessing the innovation in order to influence practice and build upon theoretical models of learning and thinking. Specifically, this study implements the innovative practice of Collaborative Concept Mapping (CCM) crafted in a synchronous digital environment in order to promote a co-constructed understanding of ethical reasoning processes in pre-service teachers.
