Abstract: As institutions look for cost efficient and convenient ways to provide teachers with meaningful professional development, virtual environments offer a variety of tools. Additionally, communities of practice may provide new ways to support faculty professional development initiatives, especially in the development of instructional skills and knowledge. This session will describe how an online community of practice was developed and implemented, as well as provide recommendations related to utilizing such a professional development strategy.
