Implementing the edTPA Process with LiveText in Field and Clinical Experiences

Abstract: Preparing students for the edTPA Portfolio Process can happen early in the pre-teaching careers of students. Marian University has implemented a step-approach using LiveText throughout students’ field and clinical experiences. The focus of this presentation is to describe how Marian University converted both field experiences and clinical practice to match the three task requirements of the edTPA Portfolio Process. The University has developed the process of using LiveText in all of its field experiences to embed assessments that align with the three tasks of edTPA . In addition, students will use LiveText to submit their portfolio to Pearson. Marian’s portfolio system still has required portfolio elements not required in the edTPA, such as a teaching context, pre-planning guide, and reflective essay; these additional elements are also incorporated into LiveText.
