Abstract: A summer professional development institute for secondary teachers referred to as the “Global Academic Essentials Teacher Institute (GAETI) 2014” was recently held at Mississippi State University. The goal of the GAETI 2014 was to promote Common Core State Standards (CCSS) aligned with 21st Century Skills and technology integration to increase interdisciplinary academic achievement in core subject areas. To support the strategic plan goals of high-need local education agencies (LEAs), the project emphasized core academic content areas including foreign language, history, and social studies related subjects (i.e., civics, government, economics, or geography) of grade levels 6 - 12. All costs associated with this project were funded through a federal grant. The proposed poster will present data obtained regarding GAETI participant success and improved technology integration techniques.
