Enhance Faculty Course Development Through Work Sessions

Roundtable ID: 44290

Abstract: In a large U.S. higher education institute, a cohort-based collaborative approach has been successful in addressing the issue that faculty could not finish course development within a dedicated time frame. Feedback from participating faculty, however, showed that they would like to have more interaction with peer faculty in their cohorts throughout the course development process. Informed by research, work sessions will be integrated into this cohort-based collaborative course development framework to enhance the effectiveness of the cohort through active learning, collective participation, and increased contact hours. Participants of this round table session will be able to know the rationales of the cohort-based collaborative course development model, view the phases and activities involved in the course development process, including the work sessions, and share their course development models and related issues and solutions.
