Improving Pre-Service Teachers Training in Universities of Education
Abstract: This article aims to analyze the existing computer science teachers training and to propose improvements. Modern society revolves around IT, allowing people to acquire the information they want at any time. Such a paradigm shift demands paradigm shift in education, from the delivery of knowledge to information centered on how to learn. This means that teachers training must change. The computer science teachers training courses in universities of education consist of pedagogy, computer science teaching, learning theory, computer science content learning, and two months of teaching practice in a school. After graduation, university graduates are selected via a teacher recruitment examination. This process separates the teaching pedagogy from major content learning and focuses on theory, although they are connected, so that there are insufficient opportunities to gain teaching practice that combines teaching pedagogy and major content learning.
