Designing Advanced Methods Courses for Embracing Creativity in K-12 Teaching

Abstract: One university professor who teaches an advanced course in teaching and learning has begun her search for finding ways to help practicing K-12 teachers embrace the concept of teaching for 21st century skills, especially with a focus on understanding the concept of creativity and how this is a 21st century skill. This paper—roundtable presentation—is a report on the beginning, this instructors early observations, the questions which need to be answered, and a request for others to guide in developing deeper and more meaningful strategies and assignments for understanding how to teach creativity in the K-12 setting.
