Research-based Review on Educational Technology Related Theories and Problem-solving Oriented Application of Blackboard in TESOL Online Instruction

Abstract: This presentation is reviewing educational technology related theories and researches, deliberating technological applications for effective instruction and learning, and discussing Blackboard implementation in TESOL online instruction. Educational technology related theories and research not only cover those mainstream and influential ones, such Behaviorism, Cognitivism, Constructivism, and Multiple Intelligence, but include those extended and popular theories: Anchored Instruction, Cognitive Flexibility, Diffusion of Innovations, Elaboration Theory, Experiential Learning Theory, Script Theory, Situated Cognition and Symbol Systems Theory. Technological application is to discuss the effective online instructional designing and delivering through Blackboard. The presenter will also exhibit an experimental graduate TESOL online course which was designed and delivered through Blackboard in this presentation.
