Share Paper: An Evaluation of 3D Skills of Students in Rural Haiti

Abstract: This paper reports the findings of a study conducted at an orphanage in Camatin, Haiti, a rural community, during July of 2013. Two sections of the UNIT intelligence test were administered to students between the ages of 7 to 17 with the intent to use 2D cutter projects to improve spatial reasoning abilities. The findings indicate that the children have high intelligence in 2D skills but their 3D abilities were well below standard. The findings were consistent between gender and across the age range.
