Abstract: Computer Science for All Girls (CS4ALL-G) is an Auburn University (AU) pilot project on building a K20 pipeline for recruiting and retaining girls in computing academic majors. The purpose of CS4LL-G is three-fold; 1. To foster interest in CS among middle and high schools girls (including those with special needs) by providing 2 summer residential camps, for 30 girls, that will offer an active programming development experience using CS Unplugged (CSU) kinesthetic activities and Microsoft Kodu; 2. To provide a professional development workshop for 15 K-12 teachers where we will introduce the CS4ALL-G curriculum, disseminate the results of the two camps, and demonstrate how they can utilize the curriculum in their schools; 3. To organize a joint workshop for representatives of AU and partners Community Colleges, present the outcomes of the CS4ALL-G camps and the teacher development workshop, and facilitate the discussion on strategies for attracting girls in computing academic majors.
