Poster/Demo

Abstract: This comparative descriptive research study utilized mixed methods to examine usability, knowledge acquisition, engagement, and user’s preferences between a web-based and a 3-dimensional (3D) online museum. Initial data was collected in the fall of 2012 using different methods such as pre and post-tests, surveys, and semi-structured individual interviews. Undergraduate students from two different universities experienced either the webpage or the 3-dimensional museum. This study provides an argument to increase the usage of 3D online environments for learning, and provides suggestions and support for future research in this field.
