Abstract: Technological advances have required translators and other language mediators to be part of a large network of agents and communities of practice. Social networking has become a key element when developing, teaching or using new tools. Translators have adopted new roles and developed new skills and their workspace has been redesigned. Translation processes, teaching and learning of translation technologies have become collaborative, interactive, “open” or virtual.
