Abstract: The teaching profession is under tremendous pressure to change. Professional development provides the theoretical and practical tools for teachers make changes in their school environments, and it is imperative, therefore, to continue researching the critical components of the professional development process. This symposium, led by a research and professional development center at a major university in the northeastern United States, highlights five recent initiatives that represent the Center’s emerging model for situated professional development within different educational contexts.
