Abstract: Accessing the Internet is critical for each citizen’s full participation in today’s society. While U.S. broadband access has recently increased, many adults remain digitally disconnected. Data reveals individuals with disabilities, seniors, Black and Hispanic citizens, and those with less education are disproportionately less likely use computers or the Internet. Trained individuals are needed to help address this digital disadvantage through informed instruction. Broadband Rhode Island was established to improve and expand statewide broadband access and use. The RI Digital Literacy Program’s accessible curriculum, instructor training and on-line resources serve to expand adult digital literacy.
