Abstract: Teaching research writing in an open distance learning (ODL) environment for teachers in Africa presents a real challenge to supervisors, online mentors and postgraduate students. Some of the challenges relate to large numbers of students admitted to postgraduate degree studies, with minimal admission requirements. Podcasts have potential to bring positive changes to learning environments and provide motivation to students; they are now being explored in a variety of subject domains.
