Abstract: Recently, an innovative blended model, the HyFlex design, has begun to emerge. The HyFlex design incorporates blended learning characteristics with providing student choice to participate face-to-face, online, or both. To date, the literature regarding the effectiveness of this version of blended learning is limited. This paper presents a case study of a face-to-face, graduate educational technology course that followed the HyFlex design. Additionally, it explores an instructor's reasons for choosing the HyFlex design. A sample of students' comments regarding the HyFlex course experience is also included.
