Abstract: Although technology professional development opportunities have recently become more available to faculty, there is still a major concern that, overall, many teacher educators lack pedagogical skills on how to best prepare new teachers to be able to use and effectively integrate technology into their instruction. In other words, the pedagogical aspects of effective technology integration is lacking in many teacher education programs. Additionally, various studies indicate that the teaching of technology skills in isolation cannot lead to higher levels of technology use. To this end, this paper offers suggestions on how technology tools might best be integrated into pre-service teacher education programs and in-service teacher professional development programs to support and enhance student learning.
