Abstract: : Learning Design Solutions is a service center that provides alternative educational technology consulting services inside and outside Iowa State University. The idea for an organization like this stemmed from a firm belief that learning β€œis not the special province of a single specialized real of human functioning such as cognition or perception. It involves the integrated functioning of the total organism – thinking, feeling, perceiving, and behaving.” (Kolb, 1984, p. 31). This paper describes the process of creating and maintaining this locus for nontraditional and extreme forms of learning and shares lessons learned from its daily operations.
