Abstract: International students do not have enough opportunities off campus where they can learn Japanese culture and cultivate an understanding about their regional community. In this paper, the authors reported several activities to develop international students’ skills briefly and proposed to make them to evaluate the activities conducted independently using an educational portfolio approach. International students reflected on their activities looking at pictures and recorded what they did during the activities. They could realize how much they improved their skills by contributing to their community in Japan.
