Abstract: This paper deals with the particular challenges of implementing computer technology in a developing country. Specifically the country of Guyana in South America is attempting to maximize the impact of external investment in their public school technology infrastructure. Two particular areas that were studied by the authors included 1) the use of radio & correspondence compact disks to offer the country mathematics curriculum and 2) pre-packaged Success MakerĀ© software for promoting better language and mathematics literacy. The results of the impact studies and the unique barriers to technology integration are discussed.
