Abstract: In keeping with the guidelines for using technology developed by Mason, et al. (2000), social studies teacher preparation programs should model use of and offer preservice teachers opportunities to practice with tools to teach and engage learners. This includes using tools and strategies to extend learning beyond initial readings or content delivered in class. Events occur each passing day to add to the social studies curriculum, so teachers need to make the most of the time they have with students.
