Abstract: We are investigating the effects of presentation tool software use on the production of assessment design artifacts developed by students participating in a design and production course in instructional technology. The course is offered at the graduate level and students will participate in the production of two assessment artifacts that involve the use of the PowerPoint software tool and Prezi, a web-based software tool. We anticipate that the results will reveal differences in the structures of students’ assessment design artifacts which have been created using PowerPoint versus those which are created using Prezi. Student satisfaction, usability, and perceptions of software efficacy will be measured. Additionally, steps will be taken to quantify the measureable differences in students’ assessment artifacts. We will report of our findings concerning these data at the conference.
