An Engaged Doctoral Program: Creating a Non-traditional Program for Working Professionals

Abstract: This paper provides an overview of a graduate level executive format distance doctoral program that is designed to engage the graduate level students. The cohort program provides working professionals opportunity to obtain a doctoral degree while continuing full-time employment. The program includes face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses. Techniques to recruit students using webinars, seminars, and other methods will be discussed. The design of programs to create engaged students with other students, faculty, and the community will be discussed. The integration of assignments to engage the students as scholars will be presented. The session will present outcomes from creating an engage graduate cohort.
