Abstract: The main purpose of this article is to discuss the portfolio development on learning from traditional paper-based portfolio to technology-based e-portfolio through a review of literature. This article contains six parts: portfolio features, theoretical foundations for portfolio, pedagogical issues relating portfolio use, a shit to portfolio, e-portfolio benefit, and pedagogical issues relating e-portfolio use. The benefits technologies bring on the e-portfolio surpass traditional one. For pedagogical use, e-portfolio not only remains traditional problems, such as reliability and validity, but also brings certain technological problems, such as poor computer skills students have and technical concerns for adopting e-portfolio.
