Abstract: Audio content syndication, a.k.a. podcasting, is a new innovation of an old technology that has added a new dimension to the potential for incorporating Information and Communication Technology into teaching and learning. As an emerging technology, podcasting has gained wide acceptance in a relatively short period of time primarily due to the simplicity of use and relatively low cost of the technology. Despite these apparent advantages, podcasting remains primarily an entertainment media due in part to the lack of significant research focused on the use of the technology as a learning object. This paper investigates the current application of podcast technology as a potential for learning and teaching; and reviews research focused on design of podcasting technology to meet educational requirements.
