Abstract: In a time when educational goals and standards are being homogenized, even at the University level, it is refreshing to see movement toward pre-service teachers receiving individual assistance as they navigate their all-important student teaching experiences. This presentation explores the birth of an Alumni Online Mentoring Program created to assist pre-service teachers as they grapple with linguistic and cultural diversity and educational policy issues during their culminating student teaching experience. Learn how University Alumni, who recently graduated and are already giving back to the teaching profession, are assisting student teacher candidates as they respond to the growing demands of educational policies and practices in today’s society. Through the use of an Online Mentoring Program powered by Blackboard, student teachers received an additional form of support to help them during their culminating student teaching experience.
