Virtual Dubuque: Investigating Local Topics Using Problem-Based Learning and an Interdisciplinary Approach

Abstract: Pre-service teachers at Loras College participated in a "Virtual Dubuque" project where they investigated local topics using a problem-based approach and interdisciplinary learning. The students composed Internet web pages to share their findings with a global audience. As a result, pre-service teachers learned how technology can be used to facilitate interdisciplinary learning. In addition, they increased their technology literacy.
