Abstract: To prepare future teachers to meet the new rigorous requirements as mandated in the NCLB Act, the Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) program took two major initiatives to make a difference. First an Exploring Teaching course was restructured to engage all students in actively exploring and learning about the teaching field. Also an electronic portfolio as the exit requirement for the program was set to serve as a guiding force to help students stay focused about their teaching and learning experiences.
