Abstract: This paper is a report of a collaborative work in progress. The goal of the project is to develop repeatable practices for creating 508-compliant, accessible online versions of materials used in university courses. Elements that are common of inaccessible material are discussed, and easy-to-implement solutions are presented. Our experience with this project affords others the opportunity to learn from our successes and travails and will enable other educators to improve the accessibility of their online learning material. This paper provides a brief background of accessibility with regard to online materials for higher education, a discussion of a module-based approach to "educating the educators" that we have developed, and results of applying our process to a course currently in use. The future of the project is also discussed. During our presentation, we will demonstrate before and after examples of course material and discuss how our process can be applied to other courses of the participants of the conference.
