Share Paper: Process & Promise: A Case Study of Digital Portfolios in Graduate Teacher Education
Abstract: This case study describes collaborative efforts by Literacy faculty and Department of Instructional Technology staff to implement a digital portfolio requirement in a Literacy Specialist certification program. In this formative evaluation, student surveys and anecdotal feedback from instructors and students serve as data sources, along with portfolio products. A number of candidates had difficulties producing a satisfactory web-based portfolio despite in-class training. Consequently, the entire faculty of the department met to plan for an alternative digital portfolio technology strategy using a PowerPoint structure, and for providing additional support for portfolio development.
